We gathered in the Bay—on Ohlone land—for the Pacific Sovereignty Run. The Ohlone sisters, Carla and Desiree, welcomed us, shared story, and honored us with culture and truth. The Ohlone are here. Not federally recognized, but fully alive—practicing ceremony, protecting shellmounds and sacred places, and carrying responsibilities to their homelands.

This video is about listening in a good way. It’s about what I learned from Carla and Desiree—the beauty and the struggle—and why many California tribes still fight to safeguard land from exploitation and abuse. Recognition is paperwork. Existence is ceremony, language, kinship, and care for the land.
