Friday was an emotional day in the Jarrod Ramos trial as several witnesses and survivors took the stand to recount what they went through on that terrifying June day inside the Capital Gazette newsroom. From the insurance salesman in the suite next door who called 911 to the newsroom colleagues sheltering in place, nine witnesses to the 2018 attack on the Capital Gazette were called to the stand in the span of three hours Friday morning as the state began presenting its case. Direct-examination was efficient, witness box turnover was rapid and common themes emerged as the state called its first witnesses to the stand.
