The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission says the weekend parliamentary and local government by-elections were characterised by low voter turnout in many constituencies, with the national average a mere 35-percent. The newly formed opposition party, the Citizens Coalition for Change, or Triple C, won most of the seats followed, by the ruling ZANU-PF.

Triple C won 19 of the 28 National Assembly seats, with the rest going to ZANU PF. The MDC Alliance, led by Douglas Mwonzora, failed to win a single seat.
However, the poll has been described as not being free and fair.
