Here at The Fellowship of Acoustics, the last few weeks we are rather spoiled by the supply of vintage Les Pauls, and this Goldtop from 1969 can be called a true player with its incredible mojo! In 1963, Gibson replaced the characteristic single cut body shape with the double cut that would later become the SG, but in 1968 the familiar body shape returned.

The guitar was produced that year with 1956 specifications, albeit with some minor adaptations. Similar features include the mahogany body with maple top, Goldtop finish, narrow headstock and P90 pickups, while the wide binding in the cutaway, chrome hardware, buttons with function indication and the higher weight differ from the original.

This 1969 Gibson Les Paul has been through a lot of adventures over the years, but is nevertheless in very good condition. The highlight of this guitar is of course the beautifully weathered lacquer that gives the guitar its fantastic and unique look. The body has a newly inserted piece of mahogany near the output jack, and a crack near the tuners has been repaired on the headstock. The radius of the fingerboard has been adjusted and now goes from 16 inches at the neck to 10 inches at the neck pickup. After that, some repairs were applied to the inlays.

Inside the guitar you will find the original CTS potentiometers, and the code 1376852 shows that these are from the last week of 1968. The guitar also has the specifications from 1968, as the Les Paul was given a larger headstock and the pancake body in early 1969. These adjustments cannot yet be found on this Les Paul, and that makes it a very special copy!
