Interdisciplinary care of post COVID 19 patients with Parkinson disease: Considerations & Resources

Our interdisciplinary panel of LSVT Certified speech, physical and occupational therapists will discuss a range of therapy considerations for people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) who are post-COVID. First, we will provide an overview of the potential direct and indirect impact of COVID-19 on the speech sensory and speech motor systems, musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and respiratory system. Panelists will also discuss rehab and “pre-hab” for post-COVID patients who have PD including what treatment might look like, and how to determine when patients might be ready for LSVT LOUD or LSVT BIG treatment. Lastly, we will provide an overview of interdisciplinary treatment considerations, including cognitive and fatigue factors, respiratory kinematics and other important safety precautions when providing voice and body exercise to post-COVID patients with PD.
