1. Log In to Your Google AdSense Account
Visit the Google AdSense website.
Sign in with your Google account linked to your YouTube channel.
2. Go to the "Payments" Section
After logging in, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
From the dropdown, select "Payments".
3. Submit Tax Information
Under the Payments section, look for a message or option like "Manage tax info" or "Submit tax information".
Click on this, and you'll be taken to the Tax Information page to start the tax form submission process.
4. Tax Interview Process
Google AdSense will guide you through a tax interview, asking questions to determine which tax form you need to submit.
Since you're based in India, you will likely need to submit Form W-8BEN.
5. Complete Form W-8BEN (for Non-U.S. Creators)
The W-8BEN form is for individuals or entities, not U.S. citizens or residents, allowing them to claim tax treaty benefits.
The form will ask for your basic information, such as:
Full name
Country of residence (India)
Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN): Use your Indian Permanent Account Number (PAN) as your TIN.
You may also be asked if you want to claim tax treaty benefits between India and the U.S. to reduce the standard 30% withholding rate on your U.S. earnings.
Tax Treaty Between U.S. and India: You can claim a reduced tax withholding rate of 15% on your earnings from U.S. viewers under the India-U.S. tax treaty. This can be applied to income like AdSense revenue.
6. Review and Submit
Review the completed form carefully.
Electronically sign and submit the form directly through the Google AdSense platform.
7. Confirmation
Once submitted, Google will review your tax form.
If everything is correct, you'll receive a confirmation that your tax information has been successfully submitted.
The tax withholding rate (if applicable) will apply to future YouTube earnings from U.S. viewers.
Important Notes:
Indian PAN: Ensure you use your PAN as your foreign tax identification number when asked for a TIN.
Tax Withholding: If you do not submit the form, Google may withhold 30% of your earnings from U.S. viewers, which can be reduced to 15% with the tax treaty.
Automatic Filing: After submission, Google automatically reports your earnings and withholdings to the IRS, so you don’t need to file separately for U.S. tax purposes
