France set up a semi-final clash with Spain

Spain have sent the hosts home! An end to end contest saw Germany take Spain all the way after a 89th minute equaliser. But, it was Spain who claimed the win in extra time, sending Germany out of the tournament and marking the end of Toni Kroo’s incredible career.

Elsewhere France took on Portugal in a rather less thrilling encounter, which also went the distance and more into penalties. It was France who came away with the win though and will play Spain in the semi-final.
