Our timber frame cabin part XXII: SLIDING DOVETAIL BATTEN DOOR WITH WOODEN HINGES

Описание к видео Our timber frame cabin part XXII: SLIDING DOVETAIL BATTEN DOOR WITH WOODEN HINGES

For our bathroom door we wished to show how a complete door, including the hinges and latch/lock could be made totally with wood to wood joinery, with no purchased hinges, glue or anything used but the wood itself and traditional hand tools.

Vertical Match boards were made of 1 1/4 " basswood, while the sliding dovetail battens were tulip poplar. The doors frame was hard yellow pine, and the separate mortise hinges were maple. Latch mechanism was maple and hickory.

All wood was sourced from our property, cut and dried by us. This door is one of many future projects which show what can be built from your own local materials without anything purchased.
