Victoria Filipino Canadian Association established the Sampaguita Folk Dance Group In 1971. They perform regularly in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival, receiving awards and showcase spots in the Festival's Honours Performances.

The dance group also performs in community events, with highlights at the Vancouver EXPO 86 stage and at the opening ceremonies of the XV Commonwealth Games in Victoria in 1994.
