A client asked for a free image editing tool. I recommended Gimp, Canva, Adobe Spark or PicMonkey. Do you know of another good one that you have used? When they asked me to pick the best one to resize the image and add text, I chose PicMonkey and sent them the following video. This is what happened next...
QUESTION: I took a look. It does seem easy.
But this is Freemium and there is only a 7-day free trial. So, I may need to resize 3 pictures this week and may not need to do that for six more months. So, I would prefer a free free tool because my usage volume will be so low. Can you recommend a totally free tool?
ANSWER: You do not have to login to resize with PicMonkey. I used it for months before buying and the only reason I made the purchase then was because I wanted a quicker way than waiting for Photoshop to load to remove a background which was one of Picmonkey's premium features. Unless they have changed their business model, my experience has been that the limitation is by feature not by the number of times that you use the free features. For what you want to do, my recommendation is still Picmonkey.
BUT... if something has changed. Gimp is the only totally free option. However, it may be overkill and not trans-DIVICE-able (Yep! I made up that word. lol) ... meaning, I can only see the design on desktop, not in my account on mobile devices. The next choice would be Adobe Spark Post (desktop version) because you hit their pay wall when you share the image. The last choice would be Canva. You hit Canva's pay wall when you RESIZE, BUT you can start with the predefined or custom size that you want and upload your own image to create your designated size of that uploaded image.
Clearly... all of the choices have differences that can only be mitigated by your objective. For that reason... I use all of them, depending on what I am trying to accomplish.
