Part 12 of my Let's Play of Blasphemous
Maybe it's a topic worth saving for an in game diatribe but this genre is great at invoking that feeling of epiphany. You inevitably run aground on some obstacle or another and are unsure how to progress. With enough persistence, though, you'll find some means by which to continue. It's not unique to metroidvanias but its a strong undercurrent of the design. All that to say, I get lost but I figure it out, eventually.
