Today, I’m going to tell you the story of the whole family of the most popular Soviet cars known under many names: Zhiguly, Lada Riva, Lada Nova, Lada Signet, etc.
These cars were produced from 1980 to 2014, and their platform was created in the middle of the 60’s in Italy.
These cars never were fast. But people’s cars never were fast in any country.
They weren’t a paragon of quality or comfort. But they were fast enough for bad Soviet roads, reliable enough, comfortable enough, nice looking enough, and spacious enough. It was enough car to be a dream for millions of Soviet people.
I had three of these cars in my family in the 80’s and 90’s, and I spent countless hours in them. They were the cars of my childhood and my youth. And the same is true for millions of people in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. And actually – all around the World.
