Part 1 in a series of informative how-to videos of my personal experiences with photo resist etching method of making precision printed circuit boards at home

While designing and building my first prototype of a BLDC Hub Motor Controller board for my e-bike, I documented the whole process on video from start to finish which you can now watch in HD 720p.

In this part I show you what materials you will need to do this at home yourself.

Photo resist spray from MG Chemical #416 for custom cut copper plates.
Pre-sensitized copper clad board from INJECTORALL PC18P or MG Chemicals 606 (4"x6") or 609 (6"x6").
Positive Developer MG Chemical #418-500mL.
UV Light source, mine is 250W SUNLAMP.
Ferric Chloride Etching Solution GC Electronics #22-238.
Glass contact plate.
Various Yankee AGITRAY plastic trays and glove.
Drill press, drill bits and Jacobs chuck.

Most of all you need an artwork to expose onto your copper clad board. You can make a board from a magazine articles if it has a board layout included. You need a PCB layout to photocopy onto a transparency or you can custom layout your own as I do.

The last part in the series shows the completed controller as well as a few other PC boards made including CNC stepper motor driver and a couple other neat electronic projects I have built to date.
