Forest fires in Odisha for over a week have been raging all around in the Simplipal national reserve. Hundreds of trees were burnt down in the fire leaving a lot of animals and birds without a home. The state government has stated that there has been no loss of life however, the loss of animals or humans has not been specified. The locals have however revealed that larger animals like Tigers, elephants, deer, and bears could escape the fire by shifting to unaffected areas but reptiles have died and many trees, some of which were medicinal have been destroyed in the inferno. The fire has been going on for over a week and has not come under control despite efforts to bring the fire under control. Several animals have been shifted to safer areas.
