I’ve seen several videos explaining how to improve the performance of points but I recently found a fix for new Hornby standard points that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Apologies for the awful sound quality on this video (I’ll probably replace this with music later) but hopefully the captions will cover it.
Basically, two brand new points (one LH, one RH, bought at separate times) have a manufacturing fault that caused consistent derailments. Pinning the point down only provided minor improvement but adjusting one of the point rails next to the frog fixed this issue for me.
