OD&D Man-to-Man Combat As I Understand It

Original Dungeons and Dragons came out in 1974 and had several systems of combat, one of these stytems was the Man-to-Man, if you have been watching my Solo Actual Play of OD&D you have probably seen it as it is something that I am doing there in most of the combats.

In the 3rd Edition of Chainmail the 1:20 scale combat or the Mass Combat was used most of the time, but there were times that one was not in rank & file and had to fight one on one this often happened in duels or while sieging a castle. In these times Chainmail had the Man-to-Man combat system that OD&D was suggested to be used.
