First successful flight of LHVIA (long-range hybrid-electric VTOL integrated aircraft), showcasing VTOL capabilities and transition to horizontal flight.

This aircraft was designed and manufactured by Texas A&M University students in the department of aerospace engineering. LHVIA is designed to use electric motors for vertical take off and landing, and an internal combustion engine for horizontal flight. The aircraft can carry a small payload for more than than 100 miles.

Max ground-speed was about 57 mph, with airspeed reading at 68 mph @ 50% throttle.
