The early 1990s Group C sports car grid was nothing short of completely bonkers. Everything on the grid was propelled by the sheer will of a team of engineers who would spend 24 hours praying to any deity that would listen that their car wouldn’t blow up, crash, or take-off, a technique Mercedes would perfect a decade later. Because at Le Mans, finishing is more than half the battle; there’s no point having a fast car if it doesn’t last race distance.
