The artworld is constantly on the move. Week after week, art denizens crisscross the globe from biennial to art fair to exhibition opening. They not only bump into familiar faces at exhibitions, but quite often in airports and airplanes as well. But what is the environmental impact of all this continuous movement? What is the cost, in ecological terms, of putting up and tearing down so many exhibitions, some of them in places that are already threatened, like Venice or Miami Beach? Are institutions making provisions to reduce their carbon footprint? Which arts organizations are actively working to protect the environment? This panel will be asking hard questions to art institutions, hoping to shift the trend towards more ecological responsibility in the field.
