5 kHz Sine Wave Pure Test Tone for Ten Hours | 5000 Hz

Описание к видео 5 kHz Sine Wave Pure Test Tone for Ten Hours | 5000 Hz

5000 Hz Sine Wave, by request from audio enthusiasts, is mostly used for testing audio equipment, and perhaps testing your own hearing. Warning, this piercing nature can be intense. Most won't listen for ten hours non-stop. I suppose others might say it sounds like ringing ears to begin with, depending on one's own tinnitus. Generally these test tone frequencies were used to verify proper frequency replication on analog tape recorders and speakers. Engineers would commonly use 100Hz, 1000Hz, maybe 5000Hz and 10,000Hz. If these frequencies were measured by voltage or decibel meter within 1 dB or closer, the tape machine was considered setup for the correct tape formulation and biased correctly. There are other uses too.
It is interesting many hearing test do not test above 5000Hz-8000Hz. Some humans can hear to 20,000Hz. And some can hear harmonic relationships of frequencies well beyond that limit. An audio engineer capable of that may be considered to have golden ears. Most adults have a top end range between 12,000 and 18,000. High end frequency response diminishes with age, with exposure to a cacophony of environmental sounds heard in our daily lives.
Thanks for listening. Dale
