Week after week, NYRR Open Run has a strong 💪 showing at Soundview Park in the Bronx, and Kandi Ottmar Hall, the site’s volunteer captain, is a huge reason why. 💙

One Saturday, she brought cold water and snacks, and soon after, participants followed suit. It’s now a thriving community that works to combat some of the health challenges facing the Bronx, the least healthy county in New York State.

“For my runners to show up every Saturday, to come out and run as a group, just to get healthy, build community … I think that’s so awesome of my runners. They show up, and I’m going to continue showing up for them.”
