Who would have ever thought a synthesizer would cost as much as a house? This week we’re joined by the delightful Andy McCluskey, founding member, bassist, vocalist, and songwriter for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. In this episode we learn where ZZ Top got their fancy moves, and that a Fairlight CMI synthesizer cost the same price as Andy’s parent’s house back in the mid 80’s. Here now is OMD’s Top 20 hit featuring “a synth group with a horn section”, from 1986, “(Forever) Live and Die”.
