Hormonal behavior in birds usually happens just before springtime once a year, however some birds have been known to become hormonal twice a year or all year round if it becomes chronic.

A female bird will lay eggs without a mate, but the eggs are not fertile. If your bird has layed eggs be sure to Inform your Avian vet for they may advise you to provide extra calcium, protein or special requirements your bird may need during this time. Also if she is showing interest in the eggs allow her to sit on them till she no longer is interested. Pulling away the egg may cause her to lay more.


If you are ever not sure of certain behaviors and you may think something is wrong with your bird it is always best to seek an Avian Vet for advice.
