How To Crochet a Football Applique

In this tutorial I will show you how to crochet a football appliqué that is great for lots of projects including diaper covers, blankets, hats, bags, and so many others!

Football appliqué
H hook
Worsted weight (4) brown yarn
Worsted weight (4) white yarn
Yarn needle

Abbreviations:
SS - Slip Stitch
SC - Single Crochet
SC2tog - Single Crochet 2 stitches together (decrease)
Ch - Chain

Start:
Ch. 2
(1). 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Ch.1 turn
(2). 2 sc in first sc, sc in next;ch1 turn
(3) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc; ch1 turn
(4) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc; ch1 turn
(5) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 4 sc; ch1 turn
(6) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5 sc; ch1 turn
(7) sc in each sc across ch1 turn (7 stitches)
(8) 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 5, 2 sc in last;ch1 turn (9 stitches)
(9) sc in each stitch across; ch1 turn
(10) sc in each stitch across; ch1 turn
(12) sc2tog, sc in next 5, sc2tog; ch1 turn
(13) sc in each st across; ch1 turn
(14) sc in each stitch acros; ch1 turn (7sc)
(15) sc2tog, sc in next 5; ch1 turn
(16) sc2tog, sc in next 4; ch1 turn
(17) sc2tog, sc in next 3; ch1 turn
(18) sc2tog, sc in next 2; ch1 turn
(19) sc2tog, sc; ch1 turn
(20) sc2tog

Now sc in each stitch around your football, finish with a slip stitch.

Now thread your yarn needle with white.
Stitch in the white at each end and stitching in the middle of your football.
