Hurst Jaws of Life! Tonight we’ve got a couple of Hyundai’s to look at?!?!???? Yes, we have Hyundai’s tonight. Most of us are familiar with Hurst Performance Products, but the Jaws of Life are one of the most important products they ever designed and produced. The Great Bend, KS Fire Department had some new firemen that needed to practice with the Hurst Jaws of Life. I had some Hyundai’s that had come in for junk, so I set them up for the Fire Department to practice on. It was really cool to see how they cut vehicles apart. There is a lot of technique that is required to use the Jaws of Life efficiently and effectively. This equipment is heavy and powerful. Knowing how to properly handle the equipment and how, where, and why to cut or pry on a vehicle when they are trying to get into a damaged vehicle at an accident is critical. This training is so important for our first responders and I was happy to be able to help them with vehicles and the setup for this training! They’re welcome back anytime. They did actually let me handle the equipment and make a couple of cuts myself! Everything in this video was strictly for training purposes. It was cool to see and I was happy to be part of it.
