Every spring, Carleton students donate unneeded items to the Lighten Up garage sale, run by the Center for Community and Civic Engagement (CCCE). The proceeds from the sale provide essential funds for community nonprofits, and the sale itself serves as an excellent lesson in sustainable living and waste management.

In 2023, Lighten Up will be held in Laird Stadium on Thursday, June 22 (7 a.m.–4 p.m.); Friday, June 23 (8 a.m.–6 p.m.); and Saturday, June 24 (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Saturday is Bag Sale Day, where each Ikea bag full of stuff is only $15!
