Emily Joy Sikazwe is a tireless advocate of women's empowerment in Zambia, in Africa, and around the world. She is founder and executive director of Women for Change, a gender focused non-government organization in Zambia working with communities, especially women and children in rural areas. Under her leadership, it has grown into a national organization.

A passionate and accomplished leader she is never afraid to stand up for what is just even if it puts her at risk. She graduated from the Coady's Diploma in Development Leadership in 2004 where she was awarded the Katherine Fleming International Award. In 2006, she completed StFX's Master of Adult Education program, focusing her research on developing rural women's leadership in Zambia through mentoring activities. StFX awarded her the John Dobson Memorial Award in Adult Education.

She returns to Antigonish annually to co-facilitate courses in gender analysis, women's leadership and advocacy, and citizen engagement.
