How to improve the size of those tasty Rhubarb stems in one simple lesson.
We did this last year and it worked a treat! we had our best crop ever after seeing the harvest reduce for a year or two.
By adding a mulch of very well rotted manure / compost around the outside of the plant (avoiding putting too much on the central crown) all that goodness in the compost will wash down in the rain and boost the plants growth of leaves and stems.
Plus - The mulch will also warm up the soil to encourage earlier growth
Plus - It will help hold moisture in the soil for longer and juicy stems
