The normal range for blood sugar levels varies depending on several factors, including age, gender, and medical history. In general, the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends the following target ranges for blood sugar levels:

Fasting blood sugar (before meals): 80-130 mg/dL (4.4-7.2 mmol/L)
Postprandial blood sugar (2 hours after a meal): less than 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L)


How to check proper blood sugar test


There are a few steps you can take to ensure that your blood sugar test is accurate:

Use a reliable blood glucose meter: Choose a meter that has been approved by regulatory bodies such as the FDA and is known for its accuracy.



Here are the step-by-step instructions for testing blood sugar:

1.)Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Dry your hands completely.

2.)Prepare the materials needed for testing. This includes a blood glucose meter, a lancing device, test strips, and alcohol wipes.

3.)Insert a new lancet into the lancing device and adjust the depth of the needle as needed.

4.)Turn on your blood glucose meter and insert a test strip into the meter. The meter will usually turn on automatically when you insert the strip.

5.)Use an alcohol wipe to clean the area on your finger that you will be pricking. Wait for the alcohol to dry completely.

6.)Use the lancing device to prick your finger. Squeeze your finger gently to get a small drop of blood.

7.)Touch the tip of the test strip to the drop of blood on your finger. The test strip will absorb the blood.

8.)Wait for the blood glucose meter to display your blood sugar reading. This usually takes a few seconds.

9.)Record your blood sugar reading in a logbook or on your phone, along with the date and time.

10.)Discard the lancet and used test strip properly.
