The public sector medical scheme currently boosts more than 800 000 main members, and 2 million beneficiaries. It attributes this growth to its affordable product offerings and the fact that it caters for extended families. But the scheme's surplus has dropped from R4.3 billion in 2021, to 847 million in 2022.
