field repair Marks M9900 latch spring broken

I would only advise trying this if you don’t have another exit device with you to replace it AND you have a few similar sizes of torsion springs to try and make work.

I will note, a single cylinder deadbolt screw ended up working perfectly for the new “post” There are a few other things you could use if you had them with you at the time but using what I knew I had I went through a few bins to find the best thing and ended up with the deadbolt screw :)

Even if you had the exact things needed for the field repair getting that spring back in is a bit tedious but that’s what’s called locksmithing ;) Here, I got the call in, while I was in the area, and made the decision to repair instead of going all the way back to shop, then back to customer as we were already quite busy this day and that would have screwed me all up. It also happened to be a Friday 🙄

I absolutely wouldn’t leave this for longer than necessary however the bar did work fine for the few days it took for me to get another one of these in after discussing options with customer 🤷‍♂️and have a chance to go back over to install.
