বরিশালে ডিবিসি টেলিভিশনের চিত্র সাংবাদিক সুমন হাসানকে নির্যাতনের ঘটনায় অভিযুক্ত আট ডিবি সদস্যকে সাময়িক বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে। সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় নিজ কার্যালয়ে আয়োজিত সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এ তথ্য জানান বিএমপি কমিশনার এস এম রুহুল আমিন।



তিনি বলেন, তদন্ত কমিটির প্রতিবেদনে ডিবি পুলিশের আট সদস্যকে শাস্তির আওতায় আনার সুপারিশ করা হয়। এর পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে, তাদেরকে সাময়িক বরখাস্তের পাশাপাশি কারণ দর্শানোর নোটিশ দেয়া হয়। এছাড়া, ডিবির উপকমিশনার উত্তম কুমার পালকে প্রত্যাহার করা হয়েছে বলেও জানান বিএমপি কমিশনার। এদিকে, শাস্তিমূলক ব্যবস্থা নেয়ায় সন্তোষ প্রকাশ করেছেন গণমাধ্যম কর্মীরা। গত ১৩ই মার্চ ডিবিসি'র চিত্র সাংবাদিক সুমন হাসানকে বেধড়ক পেটানোর অভিযোগ ওঠে ডিবির আট সদস্যের বিরুদ্ধে।

কমিশনার এস রুহুল আমিন বলেন, ‘সকলকেই কম-বেশি এ বিষয়ে দায়ী পাওয়া গেছে বলে প্রতিবেদনে উল্লেখ করা হয়। সেই প্রতিবেদনের ভিত্তিতে টিমের আট সদস্যকেই সাময়িক বরখাস্ত করা হয় গতকাল। এখন বিভাগীয় মামলার জন্য তাদেরকে কারণ দর্শাতে বলা হয়েছে।’

বরিশঅল প্রেসক্লাবের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এস এম জাকির হোসেন বলেন, ‘পুলিশ কমিশনার মহোদয় আজ পর্যন্ত ৮ জনকে বরখাস্ত করেছেন। আমরা এই রায়ে খুশি।’

Barisal Press Club General Secretary SM Zakir Hossain said, "The police commissioner sacked 8 people till today. We are happy with this verdict. '
