India’s Naval Drill Puts Pakistan on High Alert
India and Pakistan’s navies reflect vastly different scales, doctrines, and capabilities. India operates a 290-ship fleet, including 2 aircraft carriers, 11 destroyers, 12 frigates, 18 corvettes, and 18 submarines. Pakistan’s fleet stands at 148 ships, with no carriers, no destroyers, 15 frigates, 16 corvettes, and 16 submarines.

India’s blue-water doctrine enables power projection across the Indo-Pacific. Its aircraft carriers—INS Vikrant and INS Vikramaditya—support air-sea integration with MiG-29Ks and helicopters. Pakistan lacks carrier capability, relying on land-based air support with limited reach.

India’s destroyers, like the Kolkata-class, carry BrahMos missiles and Barak-8 air defense systems, offering superior strike and shield capabilities. Pakistan’s frontline Tughril-class frigates, though modern, carry fewer vertical launch cells and less advanced radar systems.

Subsurface, India fields nuclear-powered submarines like INS Arihant, providing strategic deterrence. Pakistan’s diesel-electric Agosta-90Bs are aging, with newer Hangor-class units still pending induction.

India’s indigenous shipbuilding covers over 80% of its fleet, ensuring autonomy and sustainability. Pakistan depends heavily on Chinese imports, limiting flexibility. While Pakistan focuses on coastal defense and securing economic corridors, India’s navy is built for dominance—technologically, operationally, and strategically.
