New MRT train in Kuala Lumpur + folding Brompton Bicycle: Great combination

Описание к видео New MRT train in Kuala Lumpur + folding Brompton Bicycle: Great combination

The new MRT train in Kuala Lumpur is great. Watch how easy it is to cycle up to the station, fold the bicycle and bring the bicycle along on the train.

The MRT (mass rapid transport) is true to its acronym: Big and fast trains that come in 4 minute intervals during the rush hours and in 7 minute intervals outside of rush hour.

This first MRT line in Malaysia opened in December 2016, but only the stations outside the city center of Kuala Lumpur have opened, so it is not used much, yet. By July 2017, all the stations will open, and we will see lots of people using this train.

This MRT is comparable to the MRT operating in Singapore in terms of design, size and built quality. This is truly a very encouraging development for Kuala Lumpur, especially because MRT line 2 and 3 are also in the making.

Watch a close-up of my video mount, namely a GoPro Hero4 mounted on a chest-strap with the camera sticking out through the shirt which camouflages the camera with its black and white checkered patterns. I'm using a semi-enclosed GoPro encasement not to impede the audio.

Watch me have a conversation with the train technician / conductor (even though it is a driverless train).

I cycled from the Syed Kechik building (Bangsar) to the MRT Pusat Bandar Damanasara station, took the MRT train until MRT Mutiara Damansara station, and then cycled from there to Damansara Perdana. Total trip distance was 11.8 km incl. the train ride.

Upon arrival at the office at Damansara Perdana, watch me have conversations about bicycling with different people. Like most Malayians, they are very interested in hearing about my bicycle commute, but they most likely won't do it themselves. If people bicycle, they do it for exercise and not like me for commuting.

Enjoy,
GREGERS
