The US has 50 states and each state mayor has power in their places.
Recently the New York City mayoral election was held.
Two main candidates contested Zohran Mamdani, a Ugandan-born, Indian-origin politician from the Democratic Party.

During the campaign, Donald Trump warned that if Zohran Mamdani won the election, he would cut off all federal funding to New York City.
Despite Trump’s threat, Zohran Mamdani achieved a historic victory, becoming the new Mayor of New York City.
Mamdani has been a strong critic of Donald Trump and his policies.
In turn, Trump has also criticized Mamdani, calling him a communist and unfit for office.
Zohran Mamdani is known for supporting the Palestinian cause.
He strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
After his win, a video went viral showing a young Palestinian boy celebrating Mamdani’s victory by mimicking him.
The video spread widely across social media.
Zohran Mamdani became one of the first Indian-origin and Ugandan-born leaders to be elected as Mayor of New York City.
He shows high support to the muslim community and he said America is made of immigrants.
If Trump is against immigrants, he will be supporting all.
