Original release album notes:
The one thing I've been really trying to wrap my head around recently is how to be myself, even when faced with situations where I feel pressure to act a certain way or repress an aspect of my personality, for the benefit of others. How do I act with full authenticity? How do I speak to others in a way in which I don't have to be something I'm not, even though this conflicts with my understanding that there is no real, true "you." The you that is in your mind is the closest thing to "you," and that is already open to your own interpretation. You decide who you are, who you want to be, who you are defining yourself to not be. I guess I'm grappling with the tug and pull of daily living, all the minute experiences and more overarching feelings affecting me day by day.
Love is difficult to comprehend, you never know when the rug will be pulled out from underneath you, and when a shooting star will cross your path, teasing you to make a wish. I'm learning to live with and without it in it's different forms, and I think that's okay. Isn't that the real goal anyhow?
This album is my most recent attempt at creating something which I feel reflects my true inner self. I'm still figuring everything out, sifting through all the meaningless garbage, and finding the diamonds in the rough, and I am starting to get that life is pretty much always going to be that way, so really there's no use in sweating all the small shit, everything eventually rolls into the tide, all the countless grains of sand get washed up into the ocean, and we are all destined to the same fate.
