Majority of people might believe that this song
has moved listeners’ hearts immensely because
the lyrics well expressed desperate longing or
yearning of home by the one who was to be
executed at next daybreak.
My understanding, however, is that all the mortals
feel that they are, more or less, imprisoned in
their fleshly bodies until death finally frees them.
And because they have latent memories of the
perfect world which they experienced while they
were in the loins of Adam, our ancestor, in the
garden of Eden, they dream and long for that
place as their home. And so when they hear stories
such as this lyrics, they can empathize well with the story.

대부분은 믿는 줄로 안다.
그러나 내가 믿기로는 우리 인간들은 모두
이 육신이라는 감옥에서 우리의 선조, 아담과
이브와 함께 경험한 완벽한 에던 동산이란
파라다이스를 경험한 기억이 있기에 쫓겨 나온
그 고향을 늘 간절히 그리며 산다고 믿는다.
그러기에 우리는 고향의 노래를 사랑하며 이런
가사에 깊이 감동한다고 믿는다.
