After earning her undergraduate degree, Margaret Zahm, an Ann Arbor, Michigan resident, was unsure of what she wanted to do. Zahm took on a teaching position and researched options for higher education. While teaching was her first passion, law was her second and thus Zahm decided to pursue a degree in law. Given her work schedule, Zahm looked at various master’s programs offered online and was drawn to ASU’s Master of Legal Studies program. “I have family in Arizona who graduated from ASU and they spoke highly of the university,” Zahm said, adding, “It's leading in innovation and research. Those are things that are really important to me as someone who has done research in the past, but also the breadth for different options to choose from, even within my own program, from tribal gaming and governance all the way to criminal law and contract management.” Upon enrolling and now graduating, Zahm reflected on her experience. “What sets ASU apart from any other program is the people. You not only have faculty who are actively working with the local system, with national corporations, they’re teaching but they’re also practicing and they're there to support you.” Zahm plans to attend law school and credits her time at ASU for a new found confidence. “I went from being, I think, timid and a little bit scared and unsure, to feeling very empowered, confident.”
