The Sony RX100 II keeps the same 3.6x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens as the original Sony RX100, which offers an equivalent focal length of 28-100mm (in 35mm format) and a maximum aperture at the wide angle of f/1.8. Sony tells us that it was important to keep the f/1.8 specification in particular, since this was an especially popular feature.
