Queensland Snake Catcher Has Close Call With Red-Bellied Black Snake

Описание к видео Queensland Snake Catcher Has Close Call With Red-Bellied Black Snake

Stuart McKenzie of the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers had a close call with a venomous red-bellied black snake in Yandina, Queensland.

This footage shows the Queensland catcher opening the rat trap the snake is in, then grabbing it by the tail. The snake then lunges at him several times. “That was about four inches from my face,” McKenzie says in the video.

He posted the footage to Facebook with the comment, “For a very warm snake he was staying relatively calm, but as soon as I lifted him off the ground to bag him up, he flew up straight at my face. Just shows you have to be ready for anything in our job!”

The red-bellied black snake is one of the most common snakes on the east coast of Australia. There are no recorded cases of human fatality from a bite by a red-bellied black snake, but its venom does cause nausea, vomiting, and other unpleasant symptoms.
