The New Politics: Bella Abzug (1972)

Описание к видео The New Politics: Bella Abzug (1972)

Congresswoman Bella Abzug, a Democrat and representative of New York, speaks about the necessity of a “new politics” in the United States. She contends that contemporary American democratic institutions are not properly representative of women, urban populations, and the working class. Abzug contends, therefore, that “new politics” should fundamentally mean “bringing people into politics.” She specifically speaks out against gender inequality in government, over-zealous military spending, and the negative influence of big businesses and special interests on American democracy. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.

Recorded November 2, 1972, at The 92nd Street Y, New York.
