Описание к видео Pontiac G8 Front Brake Rotor Replacement (Base or GT)

Fixing WARPED brake rotors on my Pontiac G8 by replacing them with new rotors. This method applies to 2008 and 2009 Pontiac G8 base models and G8 GT models. This does not apply to the GXP model or any model with Brembo disc brake upgrade.

This 2009 Pontiac G8 GT was my daily driver for 4 years, and I had to replace the brake rotors twice due to warpage. These cars are known for having a slight shake in the steering wheel, and warped rotors is one of the number one causes. Since I am familiar with working on these cars, the brake rotor install took me about an hour and it didn't require any specialized tools, air tools or anything out of the ordinary.

I used Raybestos brand rotors, but Amazon offers many great brands and options.

Step by step:
First, you'll jack the car up (I use these wooden ramps to have access for my full size floor jack). Then, you'll remove the front tire and wheel. Next, it's time to remove the brake caliper by loosening the two 12mm bolts that fasten it to the caliper bracket. Move the caliper out of the way, but do not let it hang by the brake hose. Prop it up somehow. Then, remove the two 18mm bolts that hold the brake caliper bracket in place. The rotor will simple slide off of the hub assembly. Discard the old rotor, and unbox the new rotor. Be sure to clean off the packaging oil with brake cleaner.

Slide the new brake rotor onto the hub. Re-install the original brake caliper bracket with the 18mm bolts. Then, snap the brake pads into the retaining clips on the bracket. Now you can slide the brake caliper into place. Keep in mind if you're replacing brake pads at this time, you'll need to depress the brake caliper pistons in order for it to fit. To do so, you can take a C clamp or large pliers to press them in slowly. Now, install the caliper with the original 12mm bolts. You may need to hold the nut insert with an open end 18mm wrench.

Finally, before you take off down the road, you'll need to pump the brakes a few times in your driveway. This pushes the pistons out to make contact with the pads. Now, you can bed-in the brake rotors by doing a series of acceleration and decelerations, first from 45mph to 15mph, then from 60mph to 15mph. After that, you're good to go!
