Weanimix, Weaning Mix, or Tom Brown as it is most popularly called is a very nutritious cereal made by combining grains and legumes. Most mums in Ghana make this at home, and my mum is obviously no exception. For as long as I can remember we've been eating homemade weanimix which she makes in large quantities and stores in air tight containers. As mums, my sister and I feed our children with weanimix on most mornings, and this has always been so lovingly made by our Mum. With all that the world is going through, I haven't been able to travel or had anyone come to visit and so I've made my own at home and it is just like hers!

Ingredients for Wheat Weanimix
4 cups bulgar wheat
1 cup raw soy beans
1 cup raw peanuts

For Corn Weanimix:
4 cups white corn
1 cup raw soy beans
1 cup raw peanuts

For Rice Weanimix
4 cups white rice (fragrance free preferred)
1 cup raw soy beans
1 cup raw peanuts

The rule of thumb for making weanimix is for whatever amount of grain or cereal, the legumes (soy beans and groundnut ) should add up to half the amount of grain.

Weanimix will last up to a year if stored in an air tight container.
