About Jitu de Escarandi from Arenas de Cabrales:
The ride to Jitu de Escarandi is an absolute must if you want to try some of the best Spain has to offer. Most of the ride is done in gorges or on the side of steep mountains. This makes this ride unique and extremely beautiful. It has several very steep sections. At the Vuelta in 2015, even pro riders such as Nairo Quintana had a hard time and slowed down to a pace near walking speed. This ride is not a walk in the park. It starts outside Arenas de Cabrales. From here you have a short steep section which takes you up to the first gorge. The scenery here is stunning and the riding here is great as a warm-up for the upcoming steeper sections. Once you get to Poncebos the steepness sets in. Having ridden through several tunnels you get to the middle part of the ride which has a humane slope. This is your chance to recover before the next segment which takes you up to the picturesque town of Sotres. This segment has some quite steep sections. The last part is of the ride takes you up to the green mountain meadows. The hardest part is over and you can enjoy the scenery. But watch out for the cows…

Adding music to the ride:
Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is awesome. But when it comes to music opinions are very mixed. This is why we do not add music to our rides. We simply do not want to spoil your ride with music you do not like. But it is quite simple to add it yourself. Open an extra browser tab. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, YouTube, etc…) and pick the music you like and enjoy the ride...
