You already have a menu in Unity that you can navigate through with a keyboard or a gamepad by using the “Selected” color, but whenever you are switching to your mouse and hover over the other UI menu items, the last selected UI menu item stays selected, while the other ones just get highlighted? If that’s the case, then this tutorial will show you how you can fix this in a minute.

The problem here is, when navigating through your menu with your keyboard or gamepad, Unity selects the current UI menu item. But out of the box, when you hover over your UI elements with your mouse, the UI elements won’t get selected but just highlighted, which will not remove the previous selection but instead have them both visually stand out (depending on the colors you have chosen for “Selected” and “Highlighted”). So, to fix that, we need to make our mouse cursor be able to select our menu items instead of just highlighting them. And I am going to show you how you can do it. :-)
