Hiking PR1 STN - Pico do Arieiro to Pico Ruivo - Madeira

Madeira is probably most famous for the hikes along the Levadas. This hike along the iconic PR1 is an entirely different experience but an experience you should not miss out on.

The hike takes you along the three hightest peaks of the island, hiking from the third highest peak to the highest.

While there is barely 60 meters difference in height between the trailhead and the destination, the entire hike will lead you through 1100m of altitude difference, if you take it as a round-trip.

The trailhead is one of the best spots on the Island to watch a sunrise, so we recommend you get up early and enjoy a beautiful sight even before starting on your adventure.
