At the time of this live-recording my family and I were evacuated from our home due to wildfire

We decided to make the most out of the trip and record the final songs for the album

Our daughter was 8 months old at the time of this recording
As a strong believer in attachment parenting methods, and the fact that unfortunately we live quite nuclear and she was not so bonded to anyone but mama for nap time, our daughter came along for the ride and was wrapped to my back for this recording

The song 'Belonging' was one of the first songs I ever caught, although it took several years to find its full expression

I was pregnant with my son, 10 years prior, and while paddling in a canoe alone on a large beaver pond I began to sing these lyrics.. "hey wolf mama do you hear me?", I was reading the 'Women Who Run With The Wolves' by Clarissa Pinkola Estés and having a real process with it
A longing was within me to feel a deep sense of belonging
The story of the Ugly Duckling re-told within Estés Book moved me to tears every single time

Fast forward over half a decade later of years living off-grid while questing for the very belonging my body and soul longed for
I sang this song while walking alone for hours down a forest service road, yet this time it was "Hey Earth Mama do you hear me?"
Unexpectedly, a response arrived
I felt something listening to me, I felt deeply held, I felt the depth of belonging as a daughter of this Earth
The belonging likened to a swan finally finding it's kin

I hold a deep prayer for all to feel like they belong as children of our Mother Earth
