Therefore, it is a great idea to spend some time reviewing information for the nursing specialty for which you apply. For example, if you're going to interview for a cardiac unit, you'll want to review common cardiac diseases such as hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, heart valve disease, and basic dysrhythmias.

In addition, you'll want to review common tests and procedures for the specialty. Using the example of a cardiac specialty, you might to review basic information in pacemakers, stress tests, and common tests for this specialty.

In addition, it's a great idea to review some of the popular medications used to treat common cardiac conditions, as well as the nursing interventions for the various conditions.

In the cardiac specialty, you might receive questions such as "If a patient complains of chest pain, what you do as the nurse?" If as a question about nursing interventions for heart failure, you'll want to list things like monitoring I/Os, daily weights, low fat/sodium diet, etc.
