The Ministry of Health for BCS has confirmed that based on current state legislation, all establishments performing rapid antigen tests for COVID-19 in Baja California Sur must have the approval of the State Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (COEPRIS for its acronym in Spanish) to avoid the suspension of services or the application of fines. The adherence to this rule is necessary to have control over the reliability of the studies that are being offered to the general public fby private labs and clinics to identify the presence of the virus that produces this infectious disease, since a test of poor quality or incorrectly applied can lead to erroneous results and misinformed decision-making among patients, said Health Secretary Víctor George Flores. Labs and clinics are obligated to notify the epidemiology area of the corresponding sanitary jurisdiction of every positive result within 24 hours of the result. Dr Flores pointed out that failure to comply with this obligation will imply sanctions.
