I wasn't sure how to do this tune, but someone somewhere said "we could always use more swing", so I decided to take this tune in that direction - it admittedly wasn't my first idea, but it grew on me as I wrote the arrangement. I think easily my favorite part of this arrangement to write was the repeated section after the solos - almost every layer (except the last one) was derived from some other part of the tune. I really liked the idea of almost having this displaced downbeat on the and of 4 in every bar in the rhythm section, and kind of tried to lean into that a bit while I connected all the parts of that.

Here's a quick update in regards to the immediate future of my channel: as you all know the world is on fire and social gatherings have more or less been cancelled, of course including things like school. I myself am still in school right now, and while I'm managing everything just fine, the biggest roadblock that has shown up has been determining how I will give the Jazz Junior Recital I was supposed to give this semester in order to continue progressing with my degree. My professors and I have come to the decision that I am allowed to give my Junior Recital in the form of a 30-35 minute YouTube video where I record all the music I was supposed to play on my recital. This allows me to deliver a product I'm satisfied with, and complete my Junior Recital requirement. As such, I will need to turn my attention to recording and editing my recital in the coming weeks, and video game covers will likely have to go on hold during that time to make sure I can complete this and create a final product I am happy with. I'll post it here when it's done - thank you guys for understanding!
